LIBRARY CARD & INTERNET REGISTRATION

 

Marble Falls Public Library

 (a member of the Burnet County Library System)

Library Privacy laws do not allow us to share your library record with anyone.

 

Requirements for a library card:

  • Read the Borrower’s Agreement and Internet Policy, complete and sign the registration form.

  • 18 years or older: submit form with acceptable photo ID and proof of mailing address.

  • 17 years old or younger: a parent’s or legal guardian’s address, signature and library card number are also required at time of registration. 

  • Acceptable ID (current):  Driver’s license, temporary Texas driver’s license with other photo ID, State or Military ID, Passport, resident Alien Registration Card.

  • Acceptable Proof of Current Mailing Address:  Driver’s license, State ID, personal check, current bill, lease/rental agreement, insurance card, or other official verifiable address approved by staff.

 

Checking Out/Renewing Materials:

  • You must present your library card to check out.

  • A new cardholder is allowed 2 items on first checkout; loans are for 2 weeks with 2 two-week renewals.

  • Renewals are not allowed if you have overdue items, fines, have renewed twice, or if the item is on “Hold”.

  • Renew by telephone or online using your library card number.  Your PIN is the last 4 digits of the barcode.

  • 2 overdue notices are sent by email or US mail.

  • Fines & Fees lists are available at the library.

  • If unpaid fines and fees exceed $30.00, the Burnet County Compliance Division will notify you.

Be sure to sign the back of your card.

WORKSTATION AND INTERNET USE POLICY AND PROCEDURES

 

Separate word processing computers are available.  Specified Internet Station computers have MS Office.

Remember:  Public Access Computers have limitations and are not secure!  Not all computer functions are available.

Disclaimer: The Library and staff are not responsible for materials viewed or information accessed on the Internet, direct or indirect damages from use of its services or facilities, or personal data entered in public computers.

Public Internet Registration:

  • Users must have their valid Burnet County Library card without limitations.

  • Children 9 to 17 must use filtered computers.  A parent or legal guardian must sit with any child under 9. 

  • Non-resident guests may use a guest reservation.  Ask at the Information Desk.

User Responsibilities: 

Users may:

  • Search, visit websites, use Internet databases, find online applications.

  • Access web based email, or remote access provider email.

  • Have two reservations per day. 

  • Reservations:

  • Child Area:  30 minutes

  • Adult area:  60 minutes  & Express:15 minutes.

  • Make black or color printouts. 

Users must:

  • Reserve a session at the Internet Reservation Station. 

  • Be the registered Internet user, no more than two people may share a workstation. 

  • Respect fellow computer users’ privacy and concentration.

  • When finished, click Done and End Now to clear your Internet session.

Prohibited Use: 

Violation may result in loss or suspension of Internet privileges, possible prosecution and repair expenses.

You May Not:

  • TURN OFF, LOG OFF OR SHUT DOWN COMPUTER!

  • Make copies of resources protected by copyright law or create or maintain web sites.

  • Use instant messengers or chat rooms.

  • Interfere with the operation of any computer, alter, damage or destroy data, computer programs or settings; or change desktop settings, homepages and backgrounds.  These acts may be considered a felony under Texas state law (Section 1, Title 7, Ch. 33, Section 33.02a)

  • Access pornographic sites.  Viewing obscene or pornographic materials on public computers is in violation of the TEXAS PENAL CODE, Sections 43.21, 43.22 and 43.24 and is considered a Class A misdemeanor.

  • Attempt to corrupt private information, files or access other networks.

  • Disrupt or harass other Internet Users, Library staff or volunteers or use a cell phone at a workstation.

  • Install software or any hardware including memory sticks, flash drives, portable drives, headphones or USB device.  Nothing may be plugged into or attached to any computer. 

  • Save, download or upload files to the C drive.

Computer reservations end 15 minutes before closing.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
